(What does cooperation do for us? Cooperation – as individuals and institutions)

What does cooperation mean in our everyday lives, within communities and institutions, and across cultural and social contexts?

Cooperation is a fundamental part of human life. It enables exchange, mutual support and collective action.

Nowadays, cooperation faces new challenges: humanity is confronted with global issues such as climate change, migration, and growing social and economic inequalities. These problems extend beyond national borders and require new forms of cooperation. Why, then, do the institutions and collective responses need to address these systemic risks so often struggle to emerge? While humans have evolved remarkable capacities for cooperation, applying them at a global scale presents challenges unlike any we have faced before.

So how is cooperation practised in different societies and cultures? What can we learn from different approaches to working together?

Bringing together perspectives from international cooperation, community work and the arts, this discussion explores how trust, dialogue and empathy shape cooperation — and what challenges arise when collaboration crosses cultural, institutional and national boundaries.

Indian snacks and small dishes will be available to purchase during the evening.
