A discussion about the causes and consequences of the climate crisis—why our small individual actions matter, as well as what we can achieve together.

At a time when the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly tangible through more frequent extreme weather events, this discussion aims to shift the focus from the damage that has already been done to the possibilities for future action. How can we, as individuals, contribute to protecting the environments that immediately surround us, and the environments beyond?

Climate impacts are unevenly distributed, often having greatest negative impact in the least developed areas of the Globe. Communities that have contributed the least to greenhouse gas emissions are often among the most vulnerable, because they have fewer resources to adapt. These inequalities reveal the asymmetries of globalization. What responsibilities should we demand from public institutions, governments, and businesses? Rather than viewing the Amazon rainforest, glaciers, or our local surroundings as separate environments, we consider the planet as an interconnected whole.

We want to discuss how our actions today can influence other places and communities tomorrow, what is the impact of climate change on the current migration crisis, and in turn, what small but meaningful changes we can make in our everyday lives: how individual actions contribute to broader collective efforts.

Instead of focusing on what has already been lost, this conversation will also explore what can still be protected. Alongside perspectives from environmental organisations and institutions, artist Ursula Wolf will contribute an artistic approach to climate action, reflecting on how creative practice can promote awareness, dialogue, and diverse ways of engaging with environmental issues.

This exchange of ideas seeks to open conversations about how to engage people of different generations in climate action, while reflecting on the interconnected nature of environmental challenges and the ways in which local actions can have wider social and ecological impacts.

Snacks and small dishes will be available to purchase during the evening.

We warmly invite you to join the conversation, share your experiences and reflect with us on the many ways in which we cooperate with one another.

(The discussion will be held in German)
