]]> The stone sculpture is a three dimensional art work depicting a young African girl/women with tears running down, struggling to breathe, one hand is holding and squeezing her neck tight, the other pulling her down by the shoulder, whilst other two hands are supporting and uplifting. The oppressing hands symbolise the different struggle young girls/women go through and these include gender violence, inequality, limited educational opportunities, access to resources, early child marriages, distress, deep thoughts, anxiety healthcare disparities and poor reproductive rights. The tears are an outlet and streaming down is a sign of struggle, expression of pain and miserable emotions due to the oppression.  The other two supporting hands depicts efforts to empower, support and uplift young girls/women through education, mentorship, platforms to speak out, advocacy, inspiration to find their voice. This sculpture tell a million stories of different everyday lived realities girl child and young women experience. The artist believes that his a societal eye and voice of the voiceless and the oppressed and it his duty to amplify these stories through art.
