“Crown Caps x Migration” is a participatory dialogue project that uses art as an accessible tool to promote intercultural exchange, social participation, and mutual understanding. Through shared artistic activities in public spaces, people from diverse backgrounds actively collaborate and engage in conversation with one another. The project creates spaces for encounter where diversity becomes visible and dialogue is encouraged around migration, coexistence, and broader social issues.

Together, we will create a collective installation made of bottle caps.
Each bottle cap represents a story, and together they form a visual symbol of diversity and togetherness.

The goal is to strengthen the participatory nature, accessibility, and dialogue potential of the art project within a real, multicultural setting.

Different perspectives capture each artist’s focus. Each practice is shaped by its own set of questions, experiences, and modes of expression, directing attention toward diverse subjects and fields of inquiry.

This collective exhibition brings together four artists from Iran whose practices differ widely in subject matter, medium, and approach. Landscape, environmental issues, inner worlds, and questions of culture and gender coexist in the space without being unified under a single theme.

The exhibition foregrounds difference: Each artist focuses is shaped by personal experience and individual modes of expression. At the same time, subtle intersections emerge through parallel gestures of searching, observing, and translating ideas into visual form.

The plurality of perspectives invites audiences to explore how artistic attention takes shape differently for each individual, revealing the variety of approaches that can coexist within a shared cultural context. Placed in dialogue, these works invite viewers to encounter multiple points of attention.

In collaboration with Arrière-plan : atelier du mouvement @atelierarriereplan, we invite you to the vernissage of our upcoming exhibition at Arrière-plan : atelier du mouvement in Biel.

7 February 2026
Arrière-Plan. Rue Haute 33A ¾ . 2502 Biel/Bienne (entrance behind the tower)

Looking back on moments of shared creation and collective reflection among them Crown Caps × Migration, a participatory project led by Ursula Wolf in collaboration with the African Council.

Held on December 20th as part of the International Day of Migrants and the African Council’s end-of-year celebrations, the project brought together people from different backgrounds to take part in a community-driven art installation. Through simple yet powerful materials “metal bottle caps” participants transformed everyday objects into a collective artwork shaped by stories of movement, belonging, and diversity.

Guided by Ursula Wolf, the process invited conversation, listening, and collaboration. Each bottle cap, gathered from cafés, bars, and personal collections, became a fragment of a larger shared narrative a visual reminder that migration is made up of many individual paths that come together to form a community.

As we move into 2026, Crown Caps × Migration remains a meaningful example of how art can create spaces for inclusion, dialogue, and connection beyond borders.

In collaboration with Satellites of Art, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform was pleased to welcome artist Erika González to Geneva Peace Week 2025 for a discussion on Peace through the Arts.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Erika González/Minotaura

Erika is a collagist, journalist, filmmaker, and feminist, deeply committed to women’s rights. Since 2017, she has been campaigning for the abolition of prostitution alongside the Belgian organization isala.

In 2022, she directed her first documentary “The Illusion of Abundance”, which highlights the fundamental role of women in defending territories. “The Illusion of Abundance” was selected for 130 festivals around the world and won 30 awards.

Her questioning of the place of women in society, as well as her research over the years, have provided the artist with the material for the creation of her collages, blending the intuitive with the rational, the personal with the political.

Erika González is part of a new generation of feminists who use the visual narrative of collage as a political manifesto. “Déchirures” and other series of collages can be seen on the Instagram account: @minotauracollage.

ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION

ART EXHIBITION

The exhibition took place at the GCSP (small conference room) on the 4th floor, Pétale 4.

Description

In collaboration with Satellites of Art, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform was proud to host Colombian artist, filmmaker, and journalist Erika González at Geneva Peace Week 2025.

Deeply committed to women’s rights and social justice, Erika uses the medium of collage as a powerful visual and political tool to interrogate gender inequality, extractivism, colonization, and the commodification of bodies and territories. Her series “Déchirures” and other works explore the fractures, both visible and hidden, within our societies, blending the intuitive with the rational, the personal with the political.

Erika’s experience as a human rights advocate, her years of campaigning for the abolition of prostitution with the Belgian organization isala, and her leadership within the GRUPO SUR and EU-LAT networks inform a body of work that challenges power asymmetries and amplifies the voices of women defenders around the world.

In 2022, her award-winning documentary The Illusion of Abundance brought international attention to the struggles of women protecting land and life in Latin America. Her visual art continues this trajectory, evoking resistance, rupture, and resilience.

This exhibition invites audiences to reflect on the intersections of art, activism, and peacebuilding, highlighting how creative expression can serve as both testimony and transformation.

Follow Erika’s work: @minotauracollage

DOCUMENTARY PROJECTION “The Illusion of Abundance”

Description

What does it take to stand up to some of the world’s most powerful corporations? The Illusion of Abundance follows three extraordinary women, Bertha, Carolina, and Máxima, as they challenge transnational companies exploiting land and resources in Latin America. Though facing violence, harassment, and repression, they continue to resist with unwavering courage and clarity of purpose.

Directed by journalist, filmmaker, and activist Erika González Ramirez, this award-winning documentary brings to light the harsh realities behind the promises of development and progress. More than just a film about environmental degradation, The Illusion of Abundance is a story of global resistance, a portrait of women who refuse to be silenced in the face of modern-day extractivism.

Selected for over 130 festivals worldwide and recipient of 30 international awards, the film is a powerful testament to the strength of grassroots activism and the urgency of climate justice.

Thank you for joining us for this special screening, held in the framework of Geneva Peace Week 2025, followed by a discussion with the director. The conversation, moderated by Katrin Imhof (Satellites of Art), explored the intersections of art, advocacy, and resistance, and how storytelling can amplify the voices of those on the frontlines.
