Tigran Hakobyan

“A person is changeable and can have different sides. This fact was visualized to me and it was the moment when the motivation emerged and I created a series of three or four dimensioned portraits. I haven't named my portraits so that each viewer can see them in a different way. The viewer's opinion is very important for exchanging new ideas. By the selected shades, I tried to make my portraits not only eye-pleasing but more mysterious as well. Furthermore, I hope, I have succeeded to emphasize the inner world and the beauty of the characters, their etherealness and their performance.“

Hakopyan’s portraits are built on layers of material and emotions. The characters of his works speak about the changes of the person, their hidden layers and their emotions. His unique aesthetic, three or four dimensional adds a unique depth and dynamic to his work. It’s not only the different sides of what’s seen but also what is meant to be hidden and yet he manages to show.
His compositions are intentionally left untitled, inviting viewers to interpret the works through their own emotional and psychological lenses. By combining mysterious, carefully selected shades Hakobyan evokes the inner beauty and transformation of his subjects.
Over the past two decades, his work has been exhibited widely in Armenia and internationally, including at the Armenian National Gallery and numerous group and solo exhibitions. Between 2008 and 2011, he was represented by the Collection’s Gallery of Fine Arts in Carmel, California.
His dimensional portraits received an enthusiastic response from the public. Marked by a distinct visual language, these works reflect Hakobyan’s unique perspective and refined artistic sensibility, capturing the complexity and beauty of the human spirit in a way that is unmistakably his own.
