ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Nicole is a self-taught visual artist, Curator and Graduate Architect from Jinja, Uganda. She works primarily with The Creative Tribe as the visual arts director and co-curator at 4/01. Her work explores the transcendent elements of the individual. Nicole’s work has transitioned into mixed media and now lens media. Nicole’s practice can be defined as experimental with a central theme of Identity. Through her work, she tries to understand the human psyche and what makes us who we are. She creates figurative abstracts using photo manipulation, photography as well as paint on various media such as canvas, stone, and glass. Nicole’s work are analyses of her own identity and employ symbolism.

 

Nicole was featured in a solo show by The Creative Tribe in 2018 and has been part of several group exhibitions:

- 2019, Defying Sameness: The kiosk, Kampala
- 2019, The kiosk, Belgian Embassy, Kampala
- 2018, Kampala Art Biennale, Kampala
- 2021, Power: an online exhibition by The Creative Tribe

 

Nicole Remus was also recently on the longlist for The Mukumbya Musoke Art Prize.
