ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Kibuuka is a self-taught photographer, Bboy, and social worker living and working in Kampala. Coming from creative family background, he discovered his passion for photography at the age of 18, which soon turned into a profession. He is currently working on a long-term project documenting the youth and hip-hop culture with the main focus on the bboying/breaking/breakdance elements across Africa.
He has received awards at the Uganda Press Photo Awards in 2013, 2014, and 2016, and at the Addis Foto Fest 2016. Kibuuka’s work has been published and reviewed in local and international media, including The Washington Post, Start Journal, The Daily Good magazine, MO magazines, The East African, Taz (Die Tageszeitung), and the African Music Festival Network. Kibuuka is a member of the photo agency Plus Two Five. Kibuuka has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Africa and Europe, which include:
- 2016, 4th Addis Photo Fest 2016, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- 2016, Kampala Art Biennale, Kampala, Uganda
