Simon Peter Katumba
‘From Uganda, the pearl of Africa, I am a practicing visual artist, with a primary medium of painting. I was raised in a family with strong religious and traditional cultural values and this set the foundations for who I am as an artist. Progressively, I wish to expand the range of themes I work with, by using mixed media to develop new works relating to social media, the digital era, and their effect on human-to-human relationship.’

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Katumba began to gain an artistic direction and subject focus whilst studying his undergraduate degree in commercial industrial art and design at Nkumba University. The subject matters are cultural, religious, social and economic development (in the Ugandan context) and how western influence has caused these to alter. Bold use of colour is a key component in creating the concepts of which his work is based upon. Katumba has participated in various art projects, both commercially and community based.They include:
